I was fortunate to have been selected for a position as a research assistant in my first semester of the AuD program. I collaborated on projects related to gender differences in speech production, speech perception in listeners with hearing loss, and the acoustic correlates of speech as it relates to intelligibility. The contribution of basic and clinical research to positive patient outcomes became salient as I gained exposure to the investigations in our university labs. Conducting background research for the Speech Perception Lab I analyzed several articles that affected my clinical practice.
